How things started
Following a neck injury while rock climbing in 1996, I found that massage therapy provided significant relief. Without hesitation, I enrolled in massage school in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1998, and a year and a half later, began my career as a massage therapist. Over the next few years, I would work at boutique spas, five-star resorts, and fitness and wellness centers.
Structural Integration
After five years of practice, I discovered the Rolf Method of Structural Integration (SI), which not only produced immediate, impressive results but also made me acutely aware of my poor posture and movement patterns. I visited Rolfer, dancer, and author, Mary Bond, for help with my neck pain, and when I left her studio after my first session, I was breathing deeper, standing taller, and noticing my patterns more, even though she hadn’t directly treated my neck. I subsequently attended the Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado, in 2003, followed by various workshops focused on muscular imbalances and scar tissue.
Kinesiology
By 2005, my interest in biomechanics led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. I began collaborating with doctors, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and fellow massage therapists to support clients’ paths to well-being. For six years, I worked with Dr. Richard Bernstein, an osteopathic doctor and physiatrist, in Aptos, California, treating patients with spine and joint injuries, neurological and immune disorders, burn trauma, and more, with Structural Integration and movement education. I was the Team Massage Therapist for the Chris Kane Racing team motocross athletes from 2008 to 2012.
Yoga and Animal Flow
In 2023, I certified as an Animal Flow instructor, and later attended yoga teacher training (RYT) with Hari Om in Orvieto, Italy. The two approaches create fun and dynamic movement opportunities. I teach group and private lessons at various locations in Valnerina, Umbria, Italy.
